Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical value of applying the Roy-Adaptation Model-based Newman Systems Model nursing intervention for elderly patients with advanced prostate cancer complicated by acute urinary retention. Methods A total of 135 elderly patients with advanced prostate cancer and acute urinary retention, admitted to the Department of Urology at Zhaoqing First People's Hospital from April 2018 to April 2023,were se-lected for this study. The patients were randomly assigned to the Roy-Adaptation Model-based Newman Systems Model nursing group (observation group,n=68) or the conventional care group (control group,n=67). Anxiety,de-pression,hope levels, coping strategies, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results Dur-ing the intervention period, there were no significant differences between the two groups in SAS scores,SDS scores,HHI scores,MCMQ confrontation scores, avoidance scores, resignation scores,or QOL scores (P>0.05). After the intervention,SAS scores,SDS scores, avoidance scores, and resignation scores decreased in both groups, while HHI scores, confrontation scores, and QOL scores increased. Additionally,post-intervention,the observation group had significantly lower SAS scores,SDS scores, avoidance scores, and resignation scores compared to the control group (P<0.001),while HHI scores, confrontation scores, and QOL scores were significantly higher in the observa-tion group than in the control group (P<0.001). Con-clusion For elderly patients with advanced prostate cancer and acute urinary retention, the Roy-Adaptation Model-based Newman Systems Model nursing inter-vention is effective in alleviating anxiety and depres-sion,improving coping strategies, and enhancing hope and quality of life.
