Abstract:Objective To analyze the expression levels and clinical significance of serum carbohydrate anti-gen 724 (CA724),carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA),and carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199) in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 72 gastric cancer patients treated at Jinjiang City Hospital (Fujian Hospital of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital) from January to December 2022. Patients were classified according to the TNM staging system published by the Union for International Cancer Con-trol:11 cases in stage Ⅰ,36 cases in stage Ⅱ,20 cases in stage Ⅲ,and 5 cases in stage IV. The expression levels of serum CA724,CEA,and CA199 were compared across different stages of gastric cancer, and the clinical character-istics of patients with high serum CA724,CEA,and CA199 expression were analyzed. Results The expression levels of serum CA724,CEA,and CA199 were higher in stage Ⅱ patients than in stage I,higher in stage Ⅲ patients than in stage Ⅱ,and higher in stage Ⅳ patients than in stage Ⅲ,with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). No statistically significant differences in the gender and age distribution of patients with high serum CA724,CEA,and CA199 expression (P>0.05). However, patients with high serum CA724,CEA,and CA199 expression had a higher proportion of tumor diameter ≥ 5 cm,diffuse type,high/moderate differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and survival period<30 months compared to those with tumor diameter<5 cm,intestinal type, low differentiation,no lymph node metastasis, and survival period>30 months (P<0.05). Conclusion The expression levels of se-rum CA724,CEA,and CA199 in gastric cancer patients are closely related to tumor staging and can reflect clinical characteristics, suggesting their potential as biomarkers for evaluating patient prognosis.
