Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy and impact on recurrence rate of benzalkonium chloride solution combined with ciprofloxacin hydrochloride suppositories in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 50 BV patients treated at the Hui'an County Maternal and Child Health Hospital from September 2021 to October 2023. Patients were divided into two groups based on the treatment regimen:the observation group (n=25),treated with benzalkonium chloride solution combined with ciprofloxacin hydrochloride suppositories, and the control group (n=25),treated with ciprofloxacin hydrochloride suppositories alone. The clinical efficacy, symptom relief time, recurrence rate, levels of inflammatory factors, and oxidative stress indicators were analyzed between the two groups. Results In the observation group,24 patients achieved effective outcomes, with a clinical efficacy rate of 96.00%,significantly higher than the control group's 76.00% (P<0.05). The observation group also exhibited shorter times for relief of vulvar pruritus (P<0.001),abnor-mal vaginal discharge (P<0.05),vulvar pain (P<0.05),and mucosal congestion (P<0.05),all statistically significant compared to the control group. The recurrence rate in the observation group was 4.00%,significantly lower than 28.00% in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in IL-2,IL-8,IL-13,NO,SOD,ET-1,and MDA levels between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the observation group showed significantly lower levels of IL-2 (P<0.001),IL-8 (P<0.001),IL-13 (P<0.001),ET-1 (P=0.007),and MDA (P<0.001),and significantly higher lev-els of NO (P=0.002) and SOD (P=0.001) compared to the control group, all with statistical significance. Con-clusion The treatment regimen of benzalkonium chloride solution combined with ciprofloxacin hydrochloride suppositories demonstrates significant clinical efficacy for BV patients. It notably shortens symptom relief time, reduces post-treatment recurrence rates, improves levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress markers, and promotes patient recovery.
