Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical value of applying damage control theory in the postoper-ative nursing care of patients with intertrochanteric femur fractures undergoing emergency surgery. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 68 patients with intertrochanteric femur fractures who underwent emergency surgery at Xiamen Hong'ai Hospital from May 2022 to May 2024.Based on postoperative nursing methods, the patients were divided into an observation group(postoperative nursing under damage control theory)and a control group(routine nursing),with 34 cases in each group.Clinical efficacy, quality of life, pain levels, adverse psycho-logical conditions, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The overall clinical efficacy rate in the observation group was 94.12%,significantly higher than the control group's 67.65%(P=0.006).Before intervention, there were no significant differences in quality of life(QOL)scores,Visual Analog Scale(VAS)pain scores,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)scores, and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the observation group had significantly higher QOL scores, lower VAS pain scores, and lower SAS and SDS scores compared to the control group(P<0.001).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 11.76%,significantly lower than the control group's 32.35%(P<0.05).Conclusion Nursing guided by damage control theory can improve clinical efficacy, enhance the qual-ity of life, reduce pain levels, alleviate adverse psychological conditions, and control the incidence of adverse reac-tions in patients with intertrochanteric femur fractures.
