Abstract:Previous research has demonstrated that virtual reality(VR)technology can be utilized for pain management, offering lower frequencies and degrees of side effects compared to traditional medications. As a high-ly promising technology,VR has the potential to reduce the reliance on analgesic drugs, thus presenting a broad scope for application in pain management. However,it remains unclear which patient clinical characteristics, pain symptoms,VR treatment modalities, and environmental factors influence its efficacy. This review aims to explore the potential mechanisms of VR in treating acute and chronic pain and analyze its effectiveness. The goal is to pro-vide references for future clinical applications, scientific research, efficacy evaluation,VR software design, and tar-get population selection.
