Abstract:Objective Exploring the correlation between levels of serum neuron specific enolase(NSE)and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)with volume of cerebral infarction and NIHSS score in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS).Methods 80patients with AIS treated at Liangzhou Hospital in Wuwei City from April 2019 to April 2023 were selected as the study group, and 50 healthy individuals undergoing physical examina-tions at the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of serum NSE and hs-CRP in the AIS group were compared with those in the healthy group. The serum NSE and hs-CRP in patients with different volumes of cerebral infarction and NIHSS scores were compared. The correlation between the levels of serum NSE and hs-CRP in AIS patients and the volume of cerebral infarction and NIHSS score was analyzed. Results The levels of se-rum NSE and hs-CRP in the AIS group were significantly higher than those in the healthy control group(P<0.001).The levels of serum NSE and hs-CRP in patients with medium and large volume infarctions were significantly high-er than those in patients with small volume infarction(P<0.001);the levels of serum NSE and hs-CRP in patients with large volume infarction were significantly higher than those in the patients with medium volume infarction(P<0.001).The levels of serum NSE and hs-CRP in patients with moderate and severe NIHSS scores were signif-icantly higher than those in patients with mild NIHSS(P<0.001);the levelsof serum NSE and hs-CRP in patients with severe NIHSS were significantly higher than those in patients with moderate NIHSS(P<0.001).Pearson anal-ysis showed that serum NSE and hs-CRP levels in AIS patients were positively correlated with the volume of cere-bral infarction and NIHSS score. Conclusion With the increase in infarct size and degree of neurological impairment, serum hs-CRP and NSE levels in patients with AIS showed an upward trend.
