Effect of risperidone combined with oxiracetam on cognitive function in patients with vascular dementia

Abstract：Objective To explore the clinical effect of risperidone combined with oxiracetam on vascular dementia patients.Methods Eighty-four patients with vascular dementia(VD)from Fengxian District mental health center were randomly divided into two groups according to the parity of admission codes.The observation group(n=42)was treated with risperidone combined with oxiracetam,while the control group(n=42)was treat-ed with oxiracetam only.After 12 weeks of treatment,the clinical efficacy,cognitive function,and psychiatric and behavioral symptoms were compared between the two groups.Results the total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05),the scores of MMSE,MOCA,and CDT in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The scores of BE-HAVE-AD and ADL in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclu-sion risperidone combined with oxiracetam can improve the clinical efficacy,cognitive function,behavioral symp-toms,and activities of daily living.
