Etiological analysis on 66 cases of refractory ascites

Abstract:Through retrospective analysis of the etiology of 66 patients with refractory ascites, the results showed that cirrhosis, malignant tumor, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, tuberculous peritonitis are common causes, and followed by Budd-Chiari syndrome, right heart failure, intestinal necrosis, huge ovarian cyst, ovarian mucinous cystadenoma, and POEMS (polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal protein, skin changes) syndrome, etc. Furthermore, the disease distribution, etiology, clinical features, and reasons for misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis were analyzed by statistic approaches to find the regular factors for avoiding missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, improving the level of diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
