Epidemiological analysis of prehospital emergency care for patients from 2010 to 2013 in Yantai ctiy

Abstract:Objective To investigate the characteristics of disease categories and death diseases in prehospital emergencies of Yantai city in recent years, in order to take corresponding measures and provide scientific basis for developing emergency medical service modes which is suitable to social demand. Methods Clinical data of patients in prehospital emergency of Yantai city from 2010 to 2013 was collected, and epidemiological characteristics of the diseases, such as disease type and death cause were analyzed. Results The ratio of male and female patients was 1.54 ∶ 1, and 5.67% percents of patients were aged younger than 20 years old. The top five prehospital emergency diseases were trauma, cerebrovascular disease, cardiovascular disease, digestive system disease and respiratory system diseases. The top five prehospital death diseases were cardiovascular diseases, trauma, cerebrovascular disease, respiratory disease and poisoning, respectively. Time distribution of prehospital first-aid: the number of patients treated showed an increasing trend from 2010 to 2013 and it sped up year by year. The first three months with most treatment cases were August, July and January respectively; and the first three periods in a day were 17-18, 8-9 and 7-8 o’clock. Conclusions According to epidemiology situation of prehospital emergency disease, on-site first aid knowledge and skills training for prehospital emergency personnel, such as trauma, cardiovascular emergency and poisoning should be strengthened to improve the first aid quality; safety consciousness education on transportation and production should be emphasized to reduce incidences of accident casualties;knowledge of cardiovascular emergency should be propaganded to improve abilities of self and mutual aids.
