Research progress on thiamine and related diseases

Abstract:The main function of thiamine is the form of coenzyme or cofactor involved in energy metabolism of organism, thiamine deficiency can weaken the body’s antioxidant capability, affecting the normal functioning of the metabolism of sugar. Recently, reports of the relationship between thiamine and some diseases are increasing. The author reviewed literatures, and summarized the important effect and mechanism of thiamine on Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, nerve inflammation, cancer and other diseases.
