Exploration on the training of nonprofessional rescuers for disaster assistance

Abstract:Nowadays the importance of nonprofessional rescuers have been affirmed internationally, and they are a significant force during early response after disaster. Providing training for "first responder" has the benefits of filling the gap before the arrival of professional rescue forces. Fully mobilizing and utilizing "first responder" team is the key to improve success rate and reduce disability rate in gold time of post-disaster rescue. In this paper, the definition, responsibilities and characteristics of "first responder" and its development course in our country were introduced, and training content and status, especially medical rescue training, were also analyzed and discussed.
