Application of the telephone follow-up system in nursing clinic patients with severe chronic hepatitis C treatment

Abstract：Objective To explore nursing efficacy of using telephone follow-up system in outpatients treatment with chronic hepatitis C.Methods 119 cases of patients with severe chronic hepatitis C were recruited and randomly divided into control group (60 cases) and telephone follow-up group (59 cases). Health education for brief infectious diseases was conducted in fixed outpatient treatment time each week for both control group and intervention group. In addition, patients in intervention group were also taking cared by telephone follow-up system, and their electronic archives and follow-up files were established then, and out-patient clinic nurse conducted the follow-up visit in the procedure and contents predetermined. Application effects of two methods during the patients’ antiviral therapy were compared.Results Compared with the control group, the anxiety and fear of patients in intervention group during antiviral treatment were significantly reduced (χ2=25.428,P﹤0.001). The knowledge of antiviral drug side effects(χ2=34.185,P﹤0.001) and dietary notices (χ2=48.885,P﹤0.001), and the rates follow doctor’s advices(χ2=39.581,P﹤0.001) were all raised.Conclusions Application of the telephone follow-up system can effectively guide out-patients inantiviral treatment of chronic hepatitis C while patients conducting self care at home, and extend the connotation of high quality nursing service.
