Abstract:Chronic respiratory diseases represented by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer have become a major challenge in global public health due to their high incidence, high disability and mortality rates, and heavy socioeconomic burden. There remain shortcomings in the understanding of pathogenesis and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for such diseases, and traditional treatment models cannot fully meet clinical needs.Against this backdrop, hydrogels,as biomaterials with tunable mechanical properties and excellent biocompatibility, have made progress in fields such as drug delivery and tissue engineering, demonstrating broad application prospects. This article reviews the applications of hydrogels in common respiratory diseases and discusses their potential and advantages in elucidating disease mechanisms, treatment, and prevention.
