Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of modified Shengmai Yin combined with Taohong Siwu Decoction plus Western medicine in the treatment of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and its effects on islet function and hemorheology. Methods A total of 110 patients with newly diagnosed T2DM admitted to Changsha Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2022 to January 2025 were selected and divided into a control group(55 cases)and a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)group(55 cases)according to the random number table method. The control group received conventional Western medicine treatment, while the TCM group was treated with modified Shengmai Yin combined with Taohong Siwu Decoction in addition to the treatment given to the control group. The total effective rate,TCM syndrome scores, blood glucose indicators, islet function, and hemorheological indicators were compared between the two groups, and the incidence of adverse reactions was statistically analyzed. Results The total effective rate in the TCM group was 90.91%,which was higher than 74.54%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the scores of dry mouth and throat, fatigue and weakness, palpitations and insomnia, and spontaneous and night sweats in the TCM group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).After 4 weeks of treatment, fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin in the TCM group were all lower than those in the control group[(6.26±1.21)mmol/L vs(6.82±1.33)mmol/L,P<0.01;(8.92±1.52)mmol/L vs(11.02±2.63)mmol/L,P<0.01;(6.49±1.20)%vs(7.86±1.35)%,P<0.01].After 4 weeks of treatment, the insulin resistance index in the TCM group was lower than that in the control group, while the islet β-cell function index was higher than that in the control group(P<0.01).After 4 weeks of treatment, the whole blood viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation index,high-shear viscosity, and low-shear viscosity in the TCM group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Modified Shengmai Yin combined with Taohong Siwu Decoction plus Western medicine is effective in the treatment of newly diagnosed T2DM,which can reduce blood glucose levels, improve islet function and hemorheology, with good safety.
