Abstract:Objective To study the clinical efficacy of computerized medium-frequency electrical stimulation combined with warm acupuncture in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH)and its effect on liver and kidney function. Methods A total of 100 LDH patients admitted to Shunde Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects and were equally divided into two groups according to a random number table. The control group received warm acupuncture treatment, while the observation group received warm acupuncture combined with computerized medium-frequency electrical stimulation. The clinical efficacy, visual analog scale(VAS)score for pain,Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score for low back and leg pain, liver function indicators[alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST)],and renal function indicators[serum creatinine(SCr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN)]were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in the observation group(94.00%)was higher than that in the control group(80.00%)(P<0.05).After treatment, the VAS scores decreased and the JOA scores increased in both groups, with the observation group showing lower VAS scores and higher JOA scores than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of ALT,AST,SCr,and BUN in both groups remained within the normal range, and no statistically significant differences were found within or between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Computerized medium-frequency electrical stimulation combined with warm acupuncture can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of LDH patients without evident adverse effects on liver and kidney function.
