Abstract:Objective To observe the long-term influence of staged nutritional health education on dietary compliance and complications in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods A total of 196 patients with liver cirrhosis admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University were included from January 2023 to December 2024,and were randomized using a random number table into control group and observation group, with 98 cases in each group. The control group received routine intervention, while the observation group received staged nutritional health education intervention in addition to routine intervention. Both groups were followed for 6 months. The following were compared between groups:dietary compliance(diet type, diet nutrition, diet contraindications, diet pattern),nutritional status[body mass index(BMI),mid-upper arm muscle circumference(MAMC),grip strength(HGS)],serum nutritional indicators[total protein(TP),prealbumin(PA),albumin(ALB),hemoglobin(Hb)],liver function[alanine aminotransferase(ALT),total bilirubin(TBil),monoamine oxidase(MAO)]before and after intervention,as well as the total incidence of complications(including sarcopenia, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, spontaneous peritonitis)during the intervention period. Results After intervention, scores for all aspects of dietary compliance,as well as levels of BMI,MAMC,HGS,TP,PA,ALB,and Hb increased in both groups(P<0.05),and were higher in the observation group(P<0.05).Conversely,the levels of ALT,TBil,and MAO decreased in both groups(P<0.05),and were lower in the observation group(P<0.05).During intervention, the total incidence of complications(sarcopenia, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, and spontaneous peritonitis)in the observation group was 6.12%(6/98),compared to 17.34%(17/98)in the control group, indicating a significantly lower total incidence in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion Staged nutritional health education for patients with liver cirrhosis can significantly improve dietary compliance, enhance nutritional status and liver function, and thereby reduce the risk of complications.
