Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of motor imagery guided by different visual styles combined with scalp and body acupuncture on upper limb function and daily living ability in patients with subacute stroke. Methods A total of 120 patients with subacute stroke who visited Nanjing Pukou People's Hospital from January 2022 to December 2024 were selected and divided into a model demonstration group,an unaffected side demonstration group, and a mirror reversal group using a random number table method, with 40 patients in each group. All three groups received scalp and body acupuncture treatment. On this basis, the three groups were combined with different visual guidance styles for motor imagery:the model demonstration group underwent motor imagery guided by model demonstrations, the unaffected side demonstration group underwent motor imagery guided by patients demonstrating actions on their unaffected side, and the mirror reversal group underwent motor imagery guided by patients demonstrating actions on their unaffected side with mirror reversal.Upper limb motor function[Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Upper Extremity(U-FMA)],shoulder joint mobility, electromyography values[integrated electromyography(iEMG),root mean square(RMS)],and activities of daily living[Barthel Index(BI)]were compared among the three groups. Results After treatment,U-FMA scores,BI scores, shoulder joint mobility, and iEMG and RMS of wrist extensors, triceps, deltoid, and biceps in the mirror reversal group>unaffected side demonstration group>model demonstration group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to motor imagery guided by patient's unaffected side demonstration and model demonstration, the combination of scalp and body acupuncture with motor imagery guided by patient's unaffected side demonstration and mirror reversal showed the best improvement effect on upper limb function, shoulder joint range of motion, and daily living ability in patients with subacute stroke, while also better improving upper limb electromyography levels.
