Abstract:Objective To investigate the evaluation value of serum malondialdehyde(MDA)and interleukin-6(IL-6)for disease severity in patients with obesity complicated with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods A total of 203 obese patients with OSAHS admitted to Handan Central Hospital from March 2021 to December 2024 were selected.Patients were classified into mild-to-moderate group(n=155)and severe group(n=48)based on apnea hypopnea index(AHI).Serum MDA,IL-6 levels and clinical data were collected and compared between groups.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze influencing factors of disease severity, and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to evaluate the assessment value of MDA and IL-6 for disease severity. Results The severe group showed significantly higher levels of body mass index(BMI),waist-hip ratio(WHR),oxygen desaturation index(ODI),hypertension comorbidity rate, longest apnea time,8-iso-prostaglandin,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),MDA,and IL-6 compared to the mild-to-moderate group(P<0.05),while mean oxygen saturation(MSaO2)and lowest oxygen saturation(LSaO2)were significantly lower(P<0.05).BMI,LSaO2,MDA,and IL-6 were independent influencing factors for disease severity in obese OSAHS patients(P<0.05).The areas under the ROC curves of MDA,IL-6,and their combination for evaluating disease severity in obese OSAHS patients were 0.749,0.714,and 0.822,respectively.Conclusion MDA and IL-6 can be used to evaluate disease severity in obese patients with OSAHS.
