Effects of Sanhuang Zicao Ointment Combined with Lipoic Acid on Wound Repair and Levels of SerumInflammatory Factors,Pain Factors and Oxidative Stress Indices in Patients with Diabetic Foot

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effects of Sanhuang Zicao ointment combined with lipoic acid on wound repair,as well as the levels of serum inflammatory factors,pain factors and oxidative stress indices in patients with diabetic foot(DF).Methods Ninety DF patients admitted to Cangzhou Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital of Hebei Province from January 2022 to December 2023 were randomly assigned into a control group(treated with lipoic acid+rivanol external application,45 patients)and an observation group(treated with lipoic acid+Sanhuang Zicao ointment external application,45 patients).The wound healing,inflammation and pain factors,traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,oxidative stress indicators,clinical efficacy,and safety were compared between the two groups before treatment(T0)and 21 days after treatment(T1).Results The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).At T1,the wound area of the affected foot,wound pH value,interleukin-6(IL-6),IL-18,procalcitonin(PCT),matrix metalloproteinase(MMP-2)levels,and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score in both groups were significantly reduced compared to T0,and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).At T1,the oxygen partial pressure,5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),β-endorphin(β-EP),superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX)levels in the affected foot wounds of both groups were significantly increased compared to T0,and the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in safety indicators between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Treatment of DF patients with Sanhuang Zicao ointment and lipoic acid can inhibit inflammatory factors,regulate oxidative stress,relieve pain,and promote wound healing.It showed significant clinical efficacy,was safe and reliable,and is worthy of further clinical promotion and application.
