Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of biofeedback therapy on sleep quality, quality of life and negative emotional state of Parkinson's disease. Methods A total of 102 patients with Parkinson's disease who were treated at the 980th Hospital of the PLA Joint Logistic Support Force from June 2020 to June 2021 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method, with 51 patients in each group.Patients in both groups received conventional drug treatment with monoamine oxidase B(MAO-B)inhibitors,and patients in the observation group received additional biofeedback therapy.Non-motor symptoms(NMSS)scores, sleep quality scores,polysomnography(v-PSG)parameters,negative emotion scores, and quality of life scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the scores for sexual function, gastrointestinal symptoms, urinary symptoms, perceptual problems/hallucinations,sleep/fatigue,dizziness/falls,depression/anxiety,other items, and the total score on the NMSS,as well as the HAMA and HAMD scores, and all item scores except for cognition and the total score on the PDQ-39 were lower than before treatment in both groups.Furthermore, all these scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and all these differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the total PDSS score was higher than before treatment in both groups.Additionally, the total score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group. These differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, total sleep time and rapid eye movement(REM)sleep time were longer than before treatment, sleep latency was shorter than before treatment, sleep efficiency was higher than before treat-ment,and the arousal index was lower than before treatment in both groups. Moreover, total sleep time and REM sleep time in the observation group were longer than those in the control group, sleep latency was shorter than that in the control group, sleep efficiency was higher than that in the control group, and the arousal index was lower than that in the control group. All these differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Biofeedback therapy can significantly improve patients'sleep quality, reduce negative emotions, and improve quality of life, demonstrating important clinical application value.
