Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by synovitis as its pathological basis, affecting multiple tissues and organs throughout the body. Both genetic and environmental factors influence the develop-ment of RA.However, the exact interaction between genetic and environmental factors, and how this interaction leads to disease progression have not been fully elucidated.Although the incidence of RA continues to rise, its pathogenesis remains unclear, making early diagnosis and timely treatment challenging.Metabolomics is a discipline that analyzes small-molecule compounds qualitatively and quantitatively under different conditions to understand metabolic changes in organisms, thereby screening for characteristic biomarkers. In recent years, metabolomics has been widely applied in RA research, with progress in identifying novel diagnostic markers, disease activity indicators, and therapeutic targets This article reviews the role of metabolomics in elucidating RA pathogenesis, improving diagnosis, monitoring disease activity and predicting treatment response.
