Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a shaping and anti-scalding(SAS)device as an adjunct to navel therapy for treatment of patients with spleen-stomach Qi deficiency type epigastric pain. Methods A total of 201 pa-tients with epigastric pain due to spleen-stomach Qi deficiency were randomly divided into three groups:circular group(using SAS device),acyclic group(routine navel therapy)and western medicine group. All three groups received acid inhibition and stomach protection, while the western medicine group received only this therapy. The circular group was treated with self-made umbilical therapy shaping and scalding prevention device to assist umbilical therapy, and the acyclic group was treated with routine umbilical therapy.Clinical outcomes, including treatment efficacy, pain scores, recurrence rates, and adverse reactions, were compared among groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, both the circular and acyclic groups showed significantly higher efficacy than the western medicine group, with the circular group outperforming the acyclic group(P<0.05).After treatment, the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores of the circular group and the acyclic group were lower than those of the western medicine group, and the VAS scores of the circular group were lower than those of the acyclic group, with statistical sig-nificance(P<0.05).Similarly,the recurrence rate of the circular group and the acyclic group was lower than that of the western medicine group, and the recurrence rate of the circular group was lower than that of the acyclic group, with statistical signifi-cance(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the circular group and the western medicine group was lower than in the acyclic group(P<0.05).Conclusion This study shows that the SAS device enhances efficacy and safety of navel therapy in managing patients with spleen-stomach Qi deficiency type epigastric pain.
