Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)iontophoresis of Shujin Huoluo Compound combined with platelet-rich plasma(PRP)in the treatment of elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA)of cold-dampness obstruction syndrome. Methods A total of 102 elderly KOA patients with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome who met the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and control group according to the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were treated with PRP intracavitary injection, and those in the observation group were treated with TCM iontophoresis of Shujin Huoluo Compound combined with PRP intracavitary injection.Interventions in both groups were performed for 8 weeks. The clinical efficacy,TCM syndrome scores, the Hospital of special surgery(HHS),the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC),the 36-Item Short Form Survey(SF-36)score were compared.Adverse events were recorded. Results The overall effective rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(98.04%[50/51]vs.80.39%[41/51],P<0.05).After treatment,TCM syndrome score and WOMAC significantly decreased in both groups, which were significantly lower in the treatment group than the control group(P<0.05).The HHS score and SF-36 score significantly increased in both groups, which were significantly higher in the treatment group than the control group(P<0.05).No significant adverse events occurred in both groups during the treatment period. Conclusion TCM iontophoresis of Shujin Huoluo Compound combined with PRP intracavitary injection has a certain clinical effect on the treatment of elderly KOA patients with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome.
