Clinical Efficacy of Ezetimibe in the Treatment of Heart Failure with Ischemic Cardiomyopathy

Abstract：Objective To observe the clinical effect of ezetimibe on treating heart failure with ischemic cardiomyopathy.Methods Clinical data of 116 heart failure patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy who received conventional drug treatment at the Outpatient Department of Jiangsu Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2023 to February 2024 were retrospectively analyzed,and they were enrolled in the non-ezetimibe group.A total of 116 heart failure patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy who received ezetimibe plus conventional drug treatment from May 2022 to July 2023 were enrolled in the ezetimibe group.Clinical efficacy,adverse events,left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVDD),brain natriuretic peptide(BNP),total cholesterol(TC)and triglyceride(TG),and the Revised Cardiac Risk Index(Lee Criteria)and Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire(MLHFQ)score before and after treatment were compared.Results None of patients were lost of follow-up.The total effective rate was significantly higher in the ezetimibe group than that of non-ezetimibe group(97.41％vs.91.38％,P＜0.05).The incidence of adverse events was comparable between the ezetimibe group and non-ezetimibe group(5.17％vs.2.59％,P＞0.05).LVDD(49.64±4.11 mm vs.52.53±6.62 mm),BNP(772.65±48.65 pg/mL vs.980.45±52.35 pg/mL),TC(4.09±0.48 mmol/L vs.5.51±0.41 mmol/L),TG(1.36±0.18 mmol/L vs.1.70±0.20 mmol/L),the Revised Cardiac Risk Index(Lee Criteria)(8.44±0.96 points vs.10.05±1.66 points),and MLHFQ score(37.69±5.07 points vs.44.34±5.12 points)after the treatment were significantly superior in the ezetimibe group than those of the non-ezetimibe group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Ezetimibe has good clinical effect in treating heart failure patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy,which can be well tolerated.It significantly improves the heart function,clinical symptoms and quality of life,and is worthy of clinical application.
