Exploration of the Value of Serum Furin and 3-Nitrotyrosine(3-NT)in Assessing Carotid Plaque Vulnerability in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM)and Ischemic Stroke(IS)

Abstract：Objective To explore the value of serum Furin and 3-nitrotyrosine(3-NT)in assessing the vulnerability of carotid plaque in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and ischemic stroke(IS).Methods 152 T2DM patients with IS were enrolled.They were divided into stable plaque group(n=63)and vulnerable plaque group(n=89)according to the nature of carotid plaques.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the levels of serum Furin and 3-NT in the two groups.The predictive value of serum Furin and 3-NT on carotid plaque vulnerability in T2DM patients with IS was evaluated by ROC curve analysis.Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of carotid plaque vulnerability in T2DM patients with IS.Results The serum Furin and 3-NT levels in the vulnerable plaque group were higher than those in the stable plaque group(P＜0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)(95％CI)of serum Furin,3-NT,and their combined prediction of carotid plaque vulnerability in T2DM patients with IS were 0.757(0.705-0.809),0.862(0.850-0.914),and 0.903(0.852-0.955),respectively.Long T2DM duration(OR=2.143,95％CI:1.459-3.146),elevated LDL-C level(OR=2.330,95％CI:1.568-3.462),Furin ≥277.56 pg/mL(OR=2.732,95％CI:1.772-4.213),and 3-NT ≥80.37 ng/mL(OR=3.480,95％CI:2.170-5.581)were identified as risk factors for carotid plaque vulnerability in T2DM patients with IS(P＜0.05).Conclusion Serum Furin and 3-NT exhibit predictive value for carotid plaque vulnerability in T2DM patients with IS,with their combined predictive value being higher.
