Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between the imputed expression of schizophrenia(SCZ)-associated genes and cognitive measures. Methods SCZ risk genes were obtained from the OMIM database.Cognitive measures were performed on SCZ patients and healthy individuals. The gene expression levels associated with SCZ and the correlation between SCZ-associated genes genes and cognitive measures were compared. Results The analysis results of the OMIM database showed that the genes MTHFR,CHI3L1,SYN2,DRD3,HTR2A,and COMT were associated with SCZ with or without affective disorder. There were significant differences in cognitive measures such as overall cognitive function, processing speed,reason-ing ability, verbal memory, working memory, and vigilance between SCZ patients and healthy individuals(P<0.0001).Com-pared with healthy individuals, the expression levels of the genes CHI3L1,COMT,DRD3,and HTR2A in SCZ patients were significantly different(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the genes MTHFR and SYN2(P>0.05).There was a certain correlation between SCZ-associated genes and cognitive measures. The expression of the genes MTHFR,CHI3L1,HTR2A,and SYN2 was positively correlated with the overall cognitive function score, reasoning ability, language memory,vigi-lance,processing speed, and working memory measures(P<0.05).The DRD3 gene was negatively correlated with the vigilance measure, and the COMT gene was negatively correlated with the processing speed measure. Conclusion The imputed ex-pression of SCZ risk genes and cognitive measures play an important role in the study of SCZ.
