Observation on the Clinical Efficacy of Bushen Huatan Decoction Combined with Acupuncture in the Treatment of Obese Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Abstract：Objective To explore the effects of Bushen Huatan Decoction combined with acupuncture on serum levels of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type9(PCSK9)and secreted frizzled-related protein-4(SFRP-4)in patients with PCOS.Methods According to different treatment methods,100 obese patients with PCOS who were treated in our hospital from April 2020 to April 2022 were divided into a study group and a control group,with 50 cases in each group.The patients in the control group were given conventional western medicine treatment;the study group was treated with Bushen Huatan Decoction combined with acupuncture on the basis of the control group.The curative effects and the changes in serum PCSK9 and SFRP-4 levels of the two groups were compared.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the BMI,WHR,and levels of T,LH,FSH,DHEA-S,TG,LDL-C,FPG,FINS,PCSK9,and SFRP-4 in both groups were lower than before treatment,and the study group showed greater reductions compared to the control group(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Based on conventional western medicine treatment,the use of Bushen Huatan Decoction combined with acupuncture in the treatment of obese patients with PCOS can improve the curative effect,ameliorate the obesity status of patients,regulate sex hormones and glucose and lipid metabolism,and reduce the serum levels of PCSK9 and SFRP-4.
