Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical application value of multi-slice spiral computed tomography(MSCT)combined with ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, aiming to provide a more accurate diagnostic method for clinical practice. Methods A total of 120 patients with symptoms of acute appendicitis who were admitted to Jianghan Oilfield General Hospital from January 2020 to August 2023 were selected as the study subjects. All patients underwent both Multi-Slice Computed Tomography(MSCT)and ultrasonography.Taking the pathological results as the gold standard, the diagnostic efficacy of ultrasonography alone and MSCT combined with ultrasonography in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis was analyzed. Results Of the 120 patients,108 were confirmed to have acute appendicitis.Ultrasonography alone diagnosed 85 cases, while MSCT combined with ultrasonography diagnosed 103 cases. The sensitivity, accuracy, and negative predictive value of MSCT combined with ultrasonography for diagnosing acute appendicitis were all higher than those of ultrasonography alone, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Moreover,for the diagnosis of suppurative appendicitis, the diagnostic accuracy of MSCT combined with ultrasonography was also significantly higher than that of ultrasonography alone(P<0.05).Conclusion The combined use of MSCT and ultrasonography exhibits substantial clinical value in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, offering more precise diagnostic information that aids in timely treatment planning and improves patient outcomes.
