The Therapeutic Value of Continuous Drug Infusion through Epidural Catheter and Repeated Injection of Ozone after Pulsed Radiofrequency Therapy for Postherpetic Neuralgia

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of continuous drug infusion and repeated injection of medical ozone through an epidural catheter in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia after pulsed radiofrequency therapy.Methods From Novem-ber 2020 to June 2022,a total of 79 patients with postherpetic neuralgia were retrospectively selected from Beijing Luhe Hos-pital,Capital Medical University.Among them,43 patients underwent continuous drug infusion and repeated ozone injection therapy after pulsed radiofrequency therapy(treatment group),while 36 patients underwent single ozone therapy after pulsed radiofrequency therapy(control group).VAS scores of pain were compared before treatment,immediately after treatment,and at 1,3,and 6 months post-treatment.Additionally,sleep,diet,and pain hypersensitivity improvement rates were compared between the two groups at 6 months post-treatment.Results There were no significant differences in VAS scores between the two groups before and immediately after treatment(P＞0.05).At 1,3,and 6 months post-treatment,the VAS scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).At 6 months post-treatment,the improve-ment.rates of sleep,diet,and pain hypersensitivity in the treatment group were 69.8％,83.7％,and 58.1％,respectively,while those in the control group were 27.8％,41.7％,and 25.0％,respectively.The differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Continuous drug infusion and repeated injection of medical ozone through epidural catheter after pulsed radiofre-quency therapy can significantly improve the symptoms of postherpetic neuralgia,with superior long-term efficacy.
