Study on the Influence Factors of Information Needs of Multiple Myeloma Patients Based on Health Belief Model

Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of the Health Belief Model(HBM)on the information needs of pa-tients with multiple myeloma(MM)to improve the quality of patient care.Methods Using a cross-sectional design,this study enrolled elderly MM patients treated in the Department of Hematology,The First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from April 2020 to April 2024,using a convenience sampling method.The general data,hematologic information needs,illness perception,general self-efficacy,and social support of the patients were assessed using standardized question-naires.Results The results showed that BIPQ,HINQ,SSRS,GSES,and tobacco and alcohol management were significant factors affecting HINQ.BIPQ(HR=2.153,95%CI:1.014-7.638,P=0.013),HINQ(HR=2.056,95%CI:2.004-6.730,P=0.045),SSRS(HR=2.409,95%CI:1.000-5.814,P=0.025),GSES(HR=1.221,95%CI:1.032-10.136,P=0.019),and tobacco and al-cohol management(HR=2.459,95%CI:1.072-5.643,P=0.034)were identified as independent risk factors for the information needs of MM patients.Conclusion HBM enhances disease perceptions and self-efficacy in MM patients,which may im-prove the quality of treatment and overall patient health.
