Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between body mass index(BMI)and inflammatory factors and glu-cose and lipid metabolism in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A total of 150 PCOS patients treated at the Reproductive Medicine Center of Nantong Maternal and Child Health Hospital Affiliated to Nantong University from January 2022 to December 2023 were enrolled.According to BMI,patients were divided into the control group(BMI<24 kg/m2)and the observation group(BMI≥24 kg/m2).The general data, glucose metabolism indexes, lipid metabolism indexes, and inflammatory factors of the two groups were compared, and the correlation between BMI and inflammatory factors and glucose and lipid metab-olism in PCOS patients was analyzed. Results The fasting blood glucose(FBG),insulin(FINS),and insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),and low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C)in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)was lower than in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),in-terleukin-6(IL-6),and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).BMI was positively correlated with TNF-α,IL-6,hs-CRP,FBG,FINS,HOMA-IR,TC,TG,and LDL-C in PCOS patients but negatively correlated with HDL-C(P<0.05).Conclusion BMI is significantly correlated with inflammatory factors and glucose and lipid metabolism in PCOS patients.Clin-ically,such indicators can be considered for monitoring to better evaluate the patient's condition.
