Therapeutic Effects of Tongxuan Lifei Granules Combined with Antibiotics on Pediatric Pneumonia:Impact on Pulmonary Function and Inflammatory Cytokine Levels

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effects of Tongxuan Lifei granules combined with azithromycin on pulmonary function and inflammatory cytokine levels in pediatric patients with Mycoplasma pneumonia.Methods A retrospective analy-sis was conducted on the clinical data of 120 children diagnosed with Mycoplasma pneumonia who were admitted to the Depart-ment of Pediatrics,Cangzhou People's Hospital,between January 2022 and January 2024.The patients were divided into a control group and an observation group,with 60 cases in each group.The control group received azithromycin treatment,while the observation group was additionally treated with Tongxuan Lifei granules.The clinical efficacy,pulmonary function indica-tors[peak expiratory flow (PEF),forced vital capacity (FVC),forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1)],levels of inflammatory cytokines[interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)],and improve-ments in clinical symptoms and signs (disappearance time of lung rales,fever resolution time,and cough relief time) were compared between the two groups,as well as the incidence of adverse reactions.Results The treatment efficacy rate in the observation group (95.16％) was significantly higher than that in the control group (81.67％),with a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).After treatment,PEF,FVC,and FEV1 levels in the observation group were significantly higher than in the control group (P<0.05),and the levels of IL-6,CRP,and TNF-α were significantly lower (P<0.05).The disappearance time of lung rales,fever resolution time,and cough relief time were shorter in the observation group compared to the control group (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions be-tween the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of Tongxuan Lifei granules with azithromycin in the treat-ment of pediatric Mycoplasma pneumonia can enhance clinical efficacy,improve pulmonary function,reduce inflammatory cy-tokine levels,and demonstrate good safety.
