Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of bilirubin adsorption (BA) combined with therapeutic plasma exchange in the treatment of hepatic abscess, providing effective evidence-based support for clinical practice. Methods Eligible liver abscess patients treated at Jiangnan University Affiliated Hospital from October 2020 to February 2024 were enrolled. Liv-er function was measured at admission and on the day after 14 days of treatment, and the expression levels of IL-6,IL-1,and TNF-α in venous blood were also measured. The effect of bilirubin adsorption therapy was analyzed. Results A total of 40 eligible patients were included and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 20 patients in each group. The improvement in liver function indicators in the observation group was significantly better than in the control group (P<0.05). The expression levels of inflammatory factors, including IL-6,IL-1,and TNF-α,were significantly lower in the ob-servation group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Bilirubin adsorption is beneficial for liver function recovery and reducing inflammatory responses, and helps shorten the liver function recovery time.
