Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) treatment on motor func-tion recovery, daily living ability, and blood rheology indexes in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 103 acute cerebral infarction patients unable to move independently and treated at Rugao People's Hospital from Septem-ber 2021 to September 2023 were included. They were randomly divided into a control group (n=51) and an IPC treatment group (n=52). The control group received routine care and rehabilitation training, and the IPC treatment group added IPC treatment for one month. The study observed and compared the Fugl-Meyer score,Barthel index, and blood rheology indexes in the two groups before and after treatment. Results Before the treatment, there was no significant difference in base-line characteristics (P>0.05). After one month of treatment, the Fugl-Meyer score (P=0.03) and Barthel index (P=0.02) significantly improved in the IPC treatment group. Additionally, the blood rheology indexes, including hematocrit (HCT),red blood cell aggregation rate, mean femoral vein blood velocity, and blood flow;coagulation indicators, including activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT),prothrombin time (PT),thrombin time (TT),fibrinogen (Fib) level, and D-dimer level, were significantly improved (P<0.05). The control group also showed improvements in these indexes, but the changes were less significant than those in the IPC treatment group (P<0.05). Conclusion IPC treatment has a significant advantage in improving motor function recovery, daily living ability, and blood rheology indexes in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
