Abstract:Objective To explore the application of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) combined with erythro-cyte distribution width to platelet ratio (RPR) in the prognosis of acute infected patients. Methods A retrospective analy-sis was conducted on the records of patients with acute infection who visited the Emergency Department of Peking University International Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023. Blood routine, procalcitonin (PCT),and interleukin 6 (IL-6) were measured after admission. A total of 148 patients with acute infection who had normal or reduced white blood cell count (WBC) were selected, and the correlation between C-reactive protein (CRP),IL-6,NLR,RPR,and PCT was compared. SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used to process the data. Independent sample t-test was used to compare the measurement data be-tween groups, and Spearman correlation analysis was used to compare the groups. MedCalc 16.2 statistical software was used to compare the difference in the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) between CRP and the combina-tion of NLR and RPR in predicting acute infection patients with normal or reduced white blood cell counts. Results The AUC of CRP was 0.784,the AUC of CRP combined with NLR was 0.783,and the AUC of NLR combined with RPR was 0.728. Compared with CRP,NLR combined with RPR has a high specificity for judging severe infections. Conclusion NLR and RPR are helpful to determine the severity of infection in patients with acute infection with normal or decreased white blood cell count and have certain guiding significance for prognosis.
