Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical significance of dynamic monitoring of helper T cell 1 ( Th1 ),Th2 cytokines, and serum ferritin ( SF ) levels in children with viral pneumonia. Methods 114 children with viral pneumonia in Honghui Hospital Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University from January 2023 to February 2024 were selected as the study group, and 80 healthy children who received physical examination during the same period were included in the control group. All children received clinical treatment. The levels of serum Th1,Th2 cytokines,Th1/Th2,and SF were compared between the study group and the control group before and after treatment.According to the disease severity of children at admission, the children in the study group were divided into mild group ( n=68 ) and severe group ( n=46 ) .The levels of serum Th1 and Th2 cytokines,Th1/Th2,and SF were compared between groups. The Spearman correlation coefficient was used to analyze the correlation between serum Th1,Th2 cytokines and SF levels and the severity of viral pneumonia in children. Results The levels of serum IL-2,IFN-γ,and Th1/Th2 in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the levels of IL-4,IL-10,and SF were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05 ) .After treatment, the levels of serum IL-2,IFN-γ,and Th1/Th2 were significantly increased, while the levels of IL-4,IL-10,and SF were significantly decreased ( P<0.05 ) .Serum IL-2,IFN-γ,and Th1/Th2 levels in the mild group were significantly higher, while IL-4,IL-10,and SF levels were significantly lower compared to the severe group ( P<0.05 ) .Spearman correlation analysis showed that the disease condition of children with viral pneumonia was significantly negatively correlated with serum IL-2,IFN-γ,and Th1/Th2 ( P<0.05 ),and was significantly positively correlated with IL-4,IL-10,and SF levels ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion The levels of Th1 cytokines in children with viral pneumonia are down-regulated while the Th2 cytokines are up-regulated,Th1/Th2 is imbalanced, and serum SF level is increased, and Th1 and Th2 cytokines and SF are significantly correlated with the disease condition.Th1,Th2 cytokines, and serum SF have a certain evaluated value for the treatment.
