Study on prevalence and risk factors of hypertension among rural residents in Linzhi, Tibet

Abstract：Objective To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of hypertension in rural residents living in Bayi district, and to provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of hyper-tension. Methods Four hundred and twenty five people were randomly sampled, the questionnaire survey and physical examination were performed. Results The prevalence rate of hypertension was 45. 89％ (195/425), 45. 72％ for men and 46％ for women. The analysis showed that the age, obe-sity, and genetic were risk factors of hypertension. Conclusion The prevalence rate of hypertension among rural residents in Bayi district is high, and more measures should be taken to prevent.
