The biological applications of graphene quantum dots

Abstract：The graphene and its derivative graphene oxide have attracted remarkable attention of scientists due to their extraordinary optical and electronic properties and biocompatibility. Re-cently, the study of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) has made great progress in theory and practice. Because of strong quantum confinement, excellent edge effects and biocompatibility, GQDs are help-ful for bioimaging and biosensors. In this review, the various biological application of GQDs is intro-duced deeply in this article. The article mainly describes in sequence of development, character, synthesis, biological application and biological toxicity of GQDs.
