Advance in studies on phloretin

Abstract：Phloretin is one kind of plant polyphenols of natural dihydrochalcones, which mainly exists in apple tree ’s root bark. Recent researches have shown that phloretin possesses a variety of biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, hypoglycemic and immuno-regulatory properties, etc. The present paper reviews the biosynthetic pathway, preparation, biologi-cal activity and pharmacokinetics of phloretin through accessing Web of Science and multiple data-bases for biomedical sciences, and its prospect of clinical application was also investigated.
