Abstract:Objective To analyze the influence of long-term sailing for the female melasma patients. Methods Before long-term sailing and after 3 months, 17 female melasma patients were selected to analyze their symptoms and detect the levels of melanocyte-stimulating hormone ( MSH) , lipoperoxide ( LPO) , superoxide dismutase ( SOD) . 15 normal women were enrolled in the control group, all of participator would involved in one of the long-term sailings. Results Compared with before, the scores of skin lesion area and color were increased in 3 months (P<0. 05), and the accom-panying symptoms including insomnia, constipation and menoxenia became more serious ( P<0. 05) . After 3 months, the MSH level of melasma patients and nomal women both increased significantly ( P<0. 05) , but the change value of MSH in melasma group was greater than that in control group ( P<0. 05) , the level of LPO increased and SOD decreased ( P<0. 05) in melasma group, however in control group the levels of LPO and SOD showed no significant differences between before and after long-term sailing ( P>0. 05 ) . Conclusion Long-term sailing can markedly enlarge the size and thicken the color of melasma, aggratate the accompanying symptoms of patients, increase LPO and MSH levels and decrease the SOD level.
