Abstract:Objective To estimate the value of video electroencephalogram ( VEEG) moni-toring in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of epilepsy and other paroxymal diseases. Methods Long-term VEEG monitoring were performed in 1 430 patients with paroxymal diseases. Results The de-tection rate of epileptiform discharge in patients with paroxymal diseases was 65. 3%. The epileptic discharge was more common in non rapid eye movement stageⅠ—Ⅱ. 405 clinical seizures were ob-served during VEEG monitoring, and the diagnosis of epilepsy can be confirmed or excluded through the analysis of synchronous recording VEEG. Conclusion VEEG can increase the detection rate of epileptiform discharge obviously. The synchronous recording video and electroencephalogram have important significance for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of epilepsy and other paroxysmal diseases.
