Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasound elastography in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods According to the result of pathological examination, 152 thyroid nodules were devided into two types: benign and malignant, compared the characteristics of conventional ultrasound imaging and ultrasound elastography imaging between the two groups. Results Based on histopathological examination, 104 thyroid nodules were diagnosed as benign nodules, while 48 thyroid nodules were diagnosed as malignant ones.Compared with be-nign thyroid nodules, most thyroid malignant nodules were observed as irregular shape, ill-defined margins, microcalcification, ratio of anteroposterior/transverse >1, and ultrasound elasticity gradeⅢ — Ⅳ.Elasticity grade Ⅲ — Ⅳ was highly predictive of malignancy, with the sensitivity and speci-ficity of 85.57% and 79.17%, respectively. Conclusion Ultrasound elastography has higher value in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
