Abstract:Objective To study the expression changes of endothelin-1 (ET-1) on rat nerve cells so as to provide references for further understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of cerebro-vascular disease. Methods Three different age groups of rats ( 1 — 2, 6 — 7, >24 months old) were studied and determined by streptaridin biotin peroxidase complex technique. Results The ex-pression of ET-1 on striatus, cortex and hippocappus increased with age.Expression of ET-1 in these portions in >24 months rats was significantly higer than that in the other 2 groups (P<0.01).There was no significant difference on the expression of ET-1 in the different portions of the same group (P>0.05).Conclusion The increased expression of ET-1 of neurons with aging may have important implications for the pathogenesis of cerebrovascular disease in the elderly.
