Abstract:Currently the mortality rate of esophageal cancer has risen to the fourth place of all kinds of cancer in China, which is largely due to the late clinical diagnosis and no effective treat ̄ment for those patients with advanced cancer. Recently, according to many reports, the abnormal ex ̄pression of microRNA( miRNA) is closely related to tumor incidence, prognosis and molecular ty ̄ping. It is also been demonstrated that the changes in concentration of circulating miRNA can be measured and stable in both inside and outside the body, which gives them the potential to be a mo ̄lecular marker for early diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Thereby early diagnosis, early treatment and good prognosis can be achieved. This review introduces the current state of knowledge about the sig ̄nificance of circulating miRNA for early diagnosis of esophageal cancer.
