Clinical observation on the effiect of traditional Chinese medicine with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for urolithiasis

Abstract:Objective To observe the effective rate and recurrence rate of urolithiasis pa-tients treated with traditional Chinese medicine after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy ( ESWL) . Methods One hundred and sixty-four patients treated with ESWL from February 2010 to January 2012 were randomized into the treatment group and control group .Patients in treatment group were given progesterone and traditional Chinese medicine while the patients in control group were given progesterone only .Comparative analysis was applied to the data of the two groups .Results The to-tal efficiency of the treatment group with 3-day treatment is 90.24%, 10-day treatment is 100.00%treatment , which is significantly higher than that of the control group .Patients in treatment groups did not relapse within 6 months .Conclusion The traditional Chinese medicine prescription has a significant effect in the treatment of urolithiasis after ESWL .
