Progress in treatment of chronic cutaneous ulcer with mesenchymal stem cells

Abstract:The chronic cutaneous ulcer is one of the refractory diseases in clinic .So far, there is no effective therapy .Derived from the mesoderm , the mesenchymal stem cells ( MSCs ) are capable of self-renewal and multi-lineage differentiation , and involved in all phases of chronic wound to accelerate its recovery through paracrine effects and differentiation to skin cells .This review mainly summarized the wound healing mechanism and current treatments of chronic cutaneous ulcer , the characteristic of MSCs and their application in chronic cutaneous ulcer , which will be propitious to basic and clinical researches of MSCs on remedy of chronic cutaneous ulcer .
