Abstract:Objective To understand the preventive effect of different graded stone barrier on Coptotermes formosanus. Methods The experiment was carried out according to Efficacy Test Method and Evaluation of Insecticides for Termite Control for Pesticide Registration Part 3:Method of Efficacy Test of Termitcides for Soil Treatment(NY/T 1153-2013).Results During the experiment, the invasion of C.formosanus occurred in different materials. The graded stone barrier of soil(particle size ≤250 μm),fine river sand(particle size ≤ 250 μm),3 kinds of quartz sand(particle size of 380~600,600~1 000 and 3 350~4 750 μm)treatment groups were penetrated. The crossing distance of quartz sand(particle size of 2 360~3 350 μm)and activated carbon(particle size of 2 000~4 000 μm)treatment groups were>10 mm.The crossing distance of crystal sand(particle size of 2 000~3 000 μm),coarse river sand(particle size of 2 000~3 000 μm),and quartz sand(particle size of 2 360~1 000 μm)treatment groups were ≤ 10 mm.Conclusion During the 90-day experiment period, crystal sand, coarse river sand and quartz sand with a particle size of 1 000-2 360 μm had better effect on preventing termites. And the materials were readily available.
