Abstract:Objective To analyze the surveillance results of tick from 2021 to 2023 in Xinyang,so as to provide a basis for the formulation of prevention and control measures. Methods Two tick surveillance sites(Guangshan County and Xinxian County)were set up in Xinyang, the parasitic ticks were monitored by animal body surface tick detection method and free-living ticks were monitored by the flagging method.A descriptive analysis was performed on the data. Results From 2021 to 2023,a total of 243 animals were examined for the body surface, and 3 191 ticks were collected.Haemaphysalis longicornis was the dominate tick species, accounting for 99.8%.The average parasitic tick index was 13.13,and the highest parasitic tick index was 29.50 in March 2023.Sheep had the highest parasitic tick index(13.83).The parasitic tick index in Guangshan County(15.90)was higher than that in Xinxian County(8.51).The average density of free ticks was 0.39/(100 m·h),and the highest free tick density was 0.77/(100 m·h)in July 2023.The density of free ticks in Guangshan County[0.45/(100 m·h)]was higher than that in Xinxian County[0.31/(100 m·h)].All the free ticks caught were H.longicornis.Conclusion H.longicornis is the dominant tick species in Xinyang, and the infested rate of ticks on sheep is higher than other host animals.Targeted tick control measures should be taken based on the surveillance results.
