Abstract:The southeast coastal region of China, distinguished by their unique climate and topography, serve as a primary habitat for venomous snakes. The increasing overlap between human activities and snake ecological niches has resulted in a surge of snakebite incidents, posing a significant threat to public health. This paper compiles and analyzes data on snakebite treatment in the region over the past five years, identifying three major challenges in the current prevention and control system:habitat fragmentation exacerbating human-snake contact risks, insufficient public awareness and response capabilities, and limitations of traditional chemical snake repellents. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an integrated snake hazard control strategy based on"ecological, biological, and social"approaches.Specifically,it recommends habitat management and the construction of ecological corridors to reduce human-snake interactions, the promotion of plant-based snake repellent to protect biodiversity, and the establishment of a multi-department joint early warning platform for precision prevention and control.Additionally,it emphasizes the importance of public safety education to enhance community awareness and prevention capabilities, thereby reducing human-snake conflicts. This approach aims to provide a scientific framework for comprehensive risk management of biosafety.
