Abstract:Anopheles is the largest genus in the subfamily Anophelinae of family Culicidae, and can transmit a variety of diseases, including malaria, filariasis,Japanese encephalitis, and O'nyong-nyong fever. As the sole vector of human malaria,Anopheles mosquitoes hold significant medical importance. In recent years, global climate and environmental changes have led to an expansion of Anopheles distribution, increasing the threat of malaria outbreaks caused by invasive Anopheles species. In China, the suitable habitat range for Anopheles mosquitoes is also predicted to expand.Although China declared the elimination of malaria in 2021,there are still thousands of imported malaria cases annually, and occasional reports of imported filariasis cases. If imported cases occur in areas with abundant Anopheles mosquitoes,it would pose a high risk of malaria re-transmission in these regions. Therefore, reviewing and updating the distribution of main malaria vectors at home and abroad is crucial for precise prevention and control of Anopheles-borne infectious diseases. This paper reviews the current status and future trends of the global and domestic geographic distribution of main malaria vectors, aiming to provide a preference for Anopheles mosquito control in China.
